Produktinformation "WatPass® Kalk 10000 Double Softener"
The WatPass Kalk 10000 double softener operates in pendulum mode and is suitable for drinking water. It is ideal for industrial applications and households with more than 5-7 people. The system provides a continuous supply of soft water thanks to the pendulum operation, as one bottle is always in operation while the other is being regenerated. Easy-to-operate control head from TWIN Clack 1" for particularly high flow rates (max. 3.0 m³/h).
The WatPass® water softeners have been tried and tested many times over. They work according to the ion exchange process. This process is the most established method for water softening.
Our systems are available in 2 versions:
1. standard salting for normal households
Best sensory results and sufficient softening for the entire household. The WatPass® Kalk is particularly energy-saving! Standard demineralisation makes optimum use of the ion exchange resin. In contrast to economy salting, the resin is completely regenerated. If you want to use the system for technical / catering applications, please note the following values when blending. A perfect rinsing result for glasses is achieved with values of < 150 µS/cm and the system should be set to < 80 µS/cm for cutlery.
Your advantages:
- no calcified heating elements & spray nozzles
- no technical faults due to hard water
- Better energy utilisation of the appliances
2. Swiss design
The SVGW regulation must be observed for operation in Switzerland. For this reason, the systems for Switzerland are supplied with a nylon protective sock and silver resin content. Otherwise, the system is designed like the standard version!
Nylon protective sock/fine salt:
Softening systems in Switzerland are normally operated with fine salt instead of salt tablets. Softening systems that we supply to Switzerland are therefore equipped with a nylon protective sock so that you can operate the softening systems with fine salt. This prevents the salt from blocking in the system.
Silver resin content (min. 2%):
The ion exchange resin must contain a minimum of 2% silver resin.
Regeneration with ion exchange resin - how does it work?
When hard water is passed through the resin, the calcium and magnesium ions (Ca2+ / Mg2+) in the water are exchanged for the sodium ions (Na+) in the resin. The resin we use has a service life of over 20 years.
Your advantages
Softer water protects your installations, heating system, washing machines and small appliances such as kettles and coffee machines. Limescale deposits on your shower screen, washbasins, toilets, etc. are greatly reduced. You can save considerable amounts of detergent, soap and shampoo and the water simply tastes better. Tea lovers, coffee drinkers and ambitious amateur chefs in particular will appreciate the results of softened water. Technical appliances and installations no longer suffer from limescale problems. This saves on maintenance and therefore money. Once you have used a water softening system, you will never want to do without it again.
When does it make sense to use a water softener?
Table 6 of DIN 1988-200 recommends cold hardness stabilisation or softening for drinking water above a hardness level of 2.5 mol/m³ (14°dH). In this process, the water is not fully softened for drinking water purposes, but is cut to a water hardness of approx. 6-7° dH using the installation block, if technically possible. If the water is any softer, it can become corrosive and thus pose a problem for the installations. It will also not taste as good.
Structure of the WatPass® lime softening systems
The GRP pressurised cylinders (filled with ion exchange resin) with the extremely low-maintenance Clack control valve are the basis of this softening system. A large salt container can be placed anywhere next to the system. The innovative valve is extremely easy to maintain.
Regeneration - what is it?
When the preset volume of soft water flow is reached, the regeneration of the resin is triggered in a volume-controlled manner. You continue to receive soft water as the system now switches to the second bottle for softening. During regeneration, the water softener automatically passes saline solution (sodium chloride) over the ion exchanger resin. During this process, the resin is reloaded with sodium ions (Na+). The calcium and magnesium ions (Ca2+ / Mg2+) are drained off with the saline solution via a separate drain connection. The resin is now ready for use again to soften your drinking water. During regeneration, the WatPass® 50.000 continues to supply soft water so that the water supply is always available. If the system is inactive (e.g. on holiday), a forced regeneration is triggered every 7-10 days to prevent the resin bed from becoming contaminated.
How long does one filling of salt last?
This depends on the water hardness and your water consumption. In normal operation, one filling lasts approximately 3-4 months, after which new salt must be added. An integrated safety float valve protects you from overflowing water.
